Well, one, it would help you with the game, right? Two, I'm not objecting.
[She would explain it to her, but she can tell she's flustering her enough as it is without going into details about her open ended relationship with her girlfriend. She's fine with just talking like this while she plays with her braid. She also doesn't want Alisaie thinking she'll only kiss her for the sake of a game, which is why she adds-]
While it's fun to try and fill squares for a game, I don't want to kiss someone just because of that. Kissing is supposed to be fun, right?
[By rights, Alisaie, you should be halfway to the door by now. But she at least needs to understand why you're bolting.]
Here I am taking advantage of this, this stupid situation, and - you already have someone who likes you like that. Don't you? All I'm going to do is make trouble for you both. I shouldn't even have asked it of you. I'm sorry.
[It's the touch of Ren's hand that has Alisaie stopping short - freezing up. Staring, even. It's that which has her abruptly re-thinking her new plan (and it was a good plan) of running for the doors and finding somewhere to hide and not coming out until - well, until she was absolutely sure that none of this was going to get back to Alphinaud.
[She registers that more than the words, and then the words register.]
It's okay?
[How can that be okay? the part of her that remembers being at home wants to know.
[The part of Alisaie that is firmly and terminally right here tells it to shut up. There's not enough people, there's the problem. Scarce a hundred souls, and half of them disagreeable or infuriating or too old or entirely beyond the pale by virtue of being Alphinaud. Of the other half, how many can she really claim to want to like like that, like this? Can't be that scrupulous. Can't be at all surprised that if you like someone, three other people probably had the same idea first.]
[Would it even be fair to want more? She didn't want Alisaie to get her heart broken, first of all. She didn't want to disappoint her. She also really did like her. Maybe it was all an infatuation for now, she didn't know. It had started that way with Serenity too, hadn't it?
She'd been about to explain herself again, that it was okay that she liked her. Her words flew away when Alisaie kissed her cheek.]
Alisaie- [She didn't want to let go of her hand, worried that she would leave if she did, so instead, she brought her own hand to Alisaie's chin, holding her in place so that she could kiss her on the corner of her lips. It wasn't a proper kiss, but she didn't want to startle her or scare her away.]
[She's resolved to have no truck at all with the other. You started this, Alisaie, she reminds herself now - now, as she starts, and considers once again that mayhap she should be a malm from here and have arrived there five minutes ago.
[But Ren smells of flowers, and her lips--
[(this was not a place that Alisaie had allowed her mind to dwell, even a minute ago)
[--her lips are soft, questing, and she takes that for the invitation that it is. She lets her head tilt back and her eyes fall closed, she presses a little closer, her own lips parting, just slightly. It's surprise. It's just surprise. All else is well.]
[She brings her arms around Alisaie, mindful of the wings, and pulls her in close. She's used to being taller, since Serenity is only 5 ft tall, but it still makes her giggle a bit in anticipation when they kiss more fully. Her lips press back against Alisaie's, her tongue slipping between her lips when she parts them to deepen it. She feels almost dizzy with how good this feels.]
[Almost, though, almost. That would require her to be thinking on what she's doing - or rather, about anything than the sudden requirements of the - of the mechanics of the situation, of how this is all supposed to work. It feels good, dizzyingly so, and it's strange and it's intoxicating and she wants to keep doing it but exactly what is expected of her right now? So she parts her lips, and - and then what? Is this how it's supposed to happen? Does she kiss back? What happens about teeth? What if she bites her?
[(Merciful twelve maybe she should have been reading those comics after all.)
[She suspects she's not particularly good at this. Either you're all out of practice, Alisaie, or you never had any to begin with.]
[Ren is a patient teacher, pulling back with murmurs of 'like this' to show her what to do and to help Alisaie not be so nervous while she kissed her again. She remembered those nerves after the Pretty Princess game. She had kissed Serenity in front of an entire table of people and then again after the game when she couldn't hold it in anymore.
It was funny. Part of her felt nerves now, but Alisaie's inexperience helped her focus on the moment and let her keep her calm.]
[Or at all, really, if it's a variation on a theme.
[It's probably a good thing they did. If she'd been quite as startled as she had been at first, they'd probably have ended up in a feathery heap on the floor. Multiple broken bones, no doubt. Possibly they'd have died. Such a tragic loss of life, and so young, too.
[Alisaie takes both Ren's hands in her own as she leans in to kiss her again, and can she blame the height or the acceleration or the feeling of Ren's lips against her own for the sudden thrill that rushes through her? It's easier still this time, it almost feels natural: the game was only ever an excuse.
[One nice thing about the mid-air aspect: no awkward standing on tiptoes this time. Mayhap there are some small positives to this form, after all.]
[While one hand stays in Alisaie's, the other moves to her back, her arm wrapping around her waist to pull her in close. She kisses her for a few more minutes, before pulling away to press her nose and lips to Alisaie's jaw. She finds her pulse as she continues kissing down her throat, before sucking and licking on her skin, leaving a mark.
Inside, she preened. She had made Alisaie hers. It made her want to keep kissing her throat, her fangs scraping across her skin occasionally.]

[She wants to hear her ask, of course, but she doesn't want to push her either. She smiles a bit, reaching to play with Alisaie's braid a little.]
Did you want to ask me for a kiss?
no subject
[Should she have made more of that?

[Too much, that's what you said.
[Far, far too much.]
A-ah, well, that is...
[That is, what?]
I can go.

[Of course it doesn't occur to her that Alisaie legitimately likes her romantically.]
Go? Wait- you don't have to go!
[She's. She's so confused and really wants to make it better.]

Eh?
[Hang on she's connecting dots here.]
You- you wouldn't be causing trouble!! Serenity- well... she dates other people besides me, so it's really okay.
[Reaching to take Alisaie's hand, if she doesn't immediately pull away from her.]
I wasn't being very nice by teasing you like that. I didn't know how you felt.

Thank you.
[She says, finally, when speaking is something it seems worthwhile trying to do again, and not a colossal waste of time.]

[Murmured as she tries to lift them up a bit off the ground using her wings.]
I believe it was 'Mid-flight kiss' was it not?
no subject
Oh, well...! I didn't think it entirely wise to take flight without some form of a rehearsal.

[Still, once they're in the air, she kisses her again.]
